FAQ page
What is yoga? -

Yoga is an ancient system of mind-body exercise. At Shambala, we teach hatha yoga classes designed to meet the needs of all fitness levels and body types. A typical yoga class begins with breathing exercises, then adds physical postures which focus on flexibility, balance, and strength-building, and ends with a meditation. The practice of yoga connects our mind, body and spirit, and recognizes the universal energy that surrounds us all. The breathing and stretching exercises have a profoundly relaxing effect, relieving stress and fatigue.
What do I wear? - Wear comfortable clothing in a breathable fabric that will stretch as you move. Yoga is practiced barefoot, and there will be a spot to leave your shoes before you enter the yoga room.
Do I need a yoga mat? - Yes, you will need a sticky mat to help keep you supported during the postures. If you do not own a mat, you can rent one from us for $1.00 or you may purchase one at our studio.
How do I sign up? - You can sign up for yoga classes or any of our other services either online or by coming in to the Yoga & Wellness center. Click on the
Services link to sign up on line.
Can I come to any class? - Yes, most of our classes will be hatha yoga classes open to all skill levels. There will be selected classes geared towards expecting mothers or the not-so-nimble, and they will be well published on the schedule. Please click on the
Class Schedule link for more detailed information about class times and content.
What else do I need to know about yoga? - Please arrive approximately 10 minutes before class if possible. This allows you to begin to settle your mind prior to the beginning of class, and prevents any disruption from people entering the classroom after the practice has begun. Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach, so refrain from eating a large meal for 2 hours prior to class. A light snack or fruit would be appropriate 30 minutes before class.
